In spite of the gridlocked traffic and smatterings of slums amidst the urban sprawl, Jakarta is home to a flavourful array of mouthwatering dishes, a smorgasbord of different maritime and highland cultures, and, some say, the friendliest people around. Indonesia’s capital is both dynamic and vibrant,  and even though religious pressures keep a lid on the party mood, nightlife in this city continues to thrive.
